What can I do to lose weight?
Q: I’m 18, 5’7″, 145 lbs, female… I play basketball for 2 hours five times a week, i’m vegetarian, and i have hypothyroidism (but i’m taking hormones). When I came to the US in June I was 120lbs. I ate a little more, especially fast food, but imo not so much to make me gain 25lbs…! What happened? It might be because of my thyroid, but that really wouldn’t be fair, I’m taking my medication every day! So what can I do to lose weight?I’m having fruit for breakfast most days, for lunch I have a peanut butter and jelly or lettuce and tomato (sometimes with cream cheese) sandwich (on pumpernickel bread) or both and dried fruit (different kinds) and sometimes nuts. Most days I eat some kind of candy during the day, oreos or a candy bar or something. For dinner I eat rice or pasta most days, sometimes potatoes, and salad everyday. I also try to eat many beans to get protein. Sometimes I eat ice cream or some more chocolate after dinner but not everyday. I always eat something after dinner, but when it’s not candy it’s dried fruit, fresh fruit, and/or nuts. I need to eat something because I get hungry again at night and I can’t sleep with my stomach growling…Sometimes I eat although I’m not really hungry, for example right after practice when I come home, I have spaghetti or something. I never felt bad about it because my coach says I should eat a lot (I don’t really know what ‘a lot’ means though.)I know I’m eating too much candy but I can’t help it, I just love it! I also love dried fruit and nuts but they have a lot of calories too.Do you have any tips? Maybe on how I can manage to eat less candy? What about candy before practice, I heard it can help you perform better (at least a little) because it’s quickly availble energy? Or should I generally eat less, for example only when I’m hungry? Maybe my hormone-dose is too low again, but I don’t think that’s the reason, I’ve had this dose for a while now and it was okay…Thanks for your answers so far. However, I can’t do low carb, it would be difficult as I am vegetarian (and sometimes I don’t even feel comfortable eating eggs and dairy, although I do eat them for the nutrients).Maybe I didn’t express myself quite right. Yes, I meant to say that I want to get my body fat percentage down. However, this will definitely mean a weight loss for me too (I have always had quite good muscles, I only put on fat on top of them, and that is what I want to get rid of.)I don’t want to do any extra exercise. I have practice every day for 2 hours, and we do a lot of running. I am doing some exercise for my calves though, so that I can jump higher. What I need to do is work on my diet!
A: Most people on synthetic thyroid hormones have a problem losing weight, I would suggest you try Armour thyroid. You are eating way too much sugar and starches. I’m not trying to convert anyone to being a meat eater only health conscious. Starches, sugar, fruit do not promote weight loss, they do promote weight gain. As a vegetarian you need to be vigilant to meeting your protein requirements. I have major concerns about soy products effecting thyroid health. If you could add eggs to your diet, that would solve a multitude of problems.I would suggest you convert your diet to more of a fat based (mainly coconut oil & olive oil) diet with much more low glycemic vegetables. Stay vigilant about meeting your protein requirements but try to keep your carbs <9grams per hour. I would suggest not eating many starches that don’t significantly contribute to protein requirements. Significantly increase your consumption of nuts (peanuts are a legume not a nut – peanuts are fine, just realize the difference), flax seeds, chia seeds, spirulina.Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) trigger insulin which can store the calories eaten into fat. The more protein the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger & unbalance other hormones. Controlling insulin levels will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so lean muscle will be gained even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase muscle mass with high HGH levels. You have chosen a way of eating that needs you to know a great deal about nutrition and how the body processes foods. I wouldn’t try to dissuade you but encourage you to educate yourself fully. Weight gain is a symptom of a problem, not the problem.I would highly suggest chia seeds – 3.5 oz is nearly 500 calories, half calories from fat (high in Omega3 fatty acids) & 16grams of COMPLETE protein for 6grams carbs & 63% DV Calcium. Spirulina is also a good complete vegetarian protein.info on chia seedshttp://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/nut-a…vegetarian low carbers forumhttp://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.…
What exercises can I do at home to help me lose weight?
Q: So, I use to have this cardio DVD that I did, and it worked really good, I was able to lose a lot of weight by doing it a few times a week. But now my DVD player broke, and I also want to drive different exercises besides sticking with one thing. Any ideas?(10Pts if you make me an exercise schedule cause I suck making them,[like amount of each exercise, etc] lol).
A: Ok I would suggest looking up on youtube Billy Blanks Cardio. It is a GREAT workout! I love to do it! Honestly if you do it 5-6 days a week you will start to see huge results. Make sure you are consistant with it thought. Really the time of the day does not matter when you do it but I would recommend doing it about 5pm. Good Luck and I hope you reach your goals soon;)
Help, I need to lose weight fast, please don’t say diet and exersice. I want to lose weight fat!!!! Help me?
Q: If you have used a diet pill that has worked for you, please give me the name of it.I need to lose weight fast because I don’t have money to buy more clothes and my clothes is fitting really tight. Serious answers please
A: I have been through it all and know what’s it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can’t be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I’ve worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can’t eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising…This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it’s good for the heart. However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It’s so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I’ve found a great addition to help any one out, it’s a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don’t get all crazy on me and say diet pills don’t work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn’t meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It’s an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace.com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it’s the best pill I’ve tried and I’ve tried cupboards full. Now this doesn’t mean you have to follow my foot steps but I’ve successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.
