The Story of the Redemption of Mankind in 5 Verses

It seems almost petty to me sometimes to pick a list of inspirational Bible verses. All of scripture is so beautiful and worth studying and teaching. It is my goal in this list to first bring glory to God but also to perhaps inspire others with God’s magnificent story. Because when thinking about a list of verses that inspire me, I think about God’s sovereignty, and nothing besides creation screams out God’s sovereignty like the story of the redemption of humans.

Genesis 15:5– “And [God] brought [Abraham] outside and said, ‘Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.’ Then he said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’

This verse right here inspires me because this promise is the foundation of all of Christendom. This promise is not fulfilled with the nation of Israel that flees Egypt to the promised land. No, this promise is fulfilled in the great multitude of people the Apostle John saw at the end times in the book of Revelation.

Revelation 7:9-10– “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’

This is the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham. This shows me, without a doubt, that God is faithful. Whatever happens now, in my life, will all be resolved ini the end. Everything in between that passage in Genesis and this verse in Revelation is all about how God fulfills his promise.

John 3:16– “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Yes, indeed, the way God ultimately fulfills his promise to Abraham is through Jesus. This means that all of scripture really is about Jesus. It is inspiring and humbling to know that God is the author of the human story line. God is in control.

Psalm 119:22-24– “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is the Lord‘s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

This is the gospel in a nutshell, right here. Jesus, the stone the builders rejected, is the Cornerstone of God’s plan. That plan is beautiful and because of it we can be sure that every day we go through, happy or sad, is part of God’s plan and we can always rejoice because of it.

James 1:2-3– “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.

This verse and all of James has gotten me though so much in life. It is a true testament of true faith.

I hope this has served as a guide to all who read it of what the Bible is about and what can inspire you to a faith that is secure and that lacks nothing.
