Review: Keebler Wheatables Crunchy Cashew Nut Crisps

I had to stop off at the store this morning to pick up some cat food. While I was there, I remembered I was going to go to the gym after work and figured I should pick something up to have as a late afternoon snack (I hate working out with an empty stomach).

I wasn’t really sure what I was going to buy when I ended up in the snack food aisle. But, I saw a box of Keebler Wheatables Crunchy Cashew Nut Crisps and decided to give those a try.

I actually had something a bit similar to these not that long ago from the Blue Diamond brand and, had I not seen these, I probably would have bought that brand instead. However, even though the Keebler crackers were a bit more expensive (by almost $1), I liked the idea of something with cashews mixed into it. This is why I decided to try these.

For the most part, they were a pretty good snack.

When I first bought these, I was a bit concerned about the flavor. I’m not a big wheat cracker fan (or wheat fan in general) and was afraid I wouldn’t like the taste of these. However, that wasn’t the case. Even though I could taste the wheat in the crackers, the nuts actually did mix in very well and I didn’t mind it as much. In fact, I thought the crackers had a bit of a peanut butter-like taste.

As far as a snack goes, these met the criteria I usually look for when it comes to something to eat before going to the gym. First, they managed to satisfy my hunger. I end up eating lunch pretty early and, if I don’t eat anything in between, I’m usually starving by the time I’m done with work. These filled me up and stayed with me even when I was working out.

However, unlike some other snacks I’ve had in the past, the crackers were light enough where they didn’t ruin my appetite for dinner. They kept me from starving but I was still hungry enough to eat when I got home from the gym.

Overall, while I did like the Blue Diamond crackers I had earlier, I do think I liked this brand slightly more and would buy the Keebler Wheatables Crunchy Cashew Nut Crisps instead; even if they are slightly more expensive than the other brand. If you haven’t tried these, I do recommend them.
