Review: Food Club Break and Bake Mini Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Even though I really want to try a crock pot lasagna recipe a friend of mine recently gave me, I didn’t feel like messing with it yesterday and decided to make ravioli for dinner instead.

I needed garlic bread and, while I was in that section of the store, walked past the refrigerated cookie dough. I had no intention of buying this at first. But, I saw a package of Food Club Break and Bake Mini Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough on sale for a very reasonable price and decided to pick some up.

Even though I bought this, I had no intention of making the cookie right away. However, my youngest daughter saw the package in the fridge and practically begged me for cookies. Not having an alternative to offer her, I caved in and made them. And, I’m glad I made this purchase.

First of all, these were pretty easy to make. All I had to do was break off the little squares, place them on a pan and put them in the oven for about 10 minutes. And, since I never was a huge fan of mini cookies, I even saved some time by breaking the squares off in groups of four to make bigger cookies. The cook time was comparable to other brands I’ve purchased in the past and was appreciated since it was a school night and was getting pretty late.

When I purchased this cookie dough, I was a bit concerned about taste. I’ve had plenty of other cheap brands in the past that weren’t worth my money because they were kind of tasteless. That wasn’t the case with this brand. The cookies were actually the exact opposite, a bit too sweet, at least when I first bit into a couple of them. Once I got used to them, however, I did think they had an excellent flavor.

Another thing that impressed me was the quantity of chips inside the cookies. Again, I’ve purchased cheaper brands in the past and they seemed to skimp on that part. But, this one had chips in almost every bite.

In fact, my wife and I enjoyed these enough to have more than one last night and my oldest daughter insisted on taking one to school with her as part of her lunch. Because of that, I definitely would consider buying this brand again in the future and do recommend trying it if you get a chance.
