Poverty is a spirit that one subscribes to as they develop. In other words no one is born poor.
Definition; fundamentally, poverty is a denial of choices and opportunities, a violation of human dignity. It means lack of basic capacity to participate effectively in society. It means not having enough to feed and clothe a family, not having a school or clinic to go to; not having the land on which to grow one’s food or a job to earn one’s living, not having access to credit. It means insecurity, powerlessness and exclusion of individuals, households and communities. It means susceptibility to violence, and it often implies living in marginal or fragile environments, without access to clean water or sanitation.
The above definition of poverty is a broad definition. I want to offer a simple and precise definition which is to lack. When lack is embraced and exalted it program your spirit and when it get don in your spirit, you start to walk believing and knowing that you are poor and you automatically become a poor woman or poor man, THE BELIEVE SYSTEM PLAYS A ROLE IN DEFINING YOUR LIVELYHOOD.Do not misinterpret me I did not say if you are insufficient you are suffering from poverty only God is sufficient.
Here in Africa the reason we are poor is we believe we are poor. We think poverty, talk even walk poverty. The danger of it is that eventually we download it to our progeny. I had an opportunity to meet Lil Jimmies as I was exploring the world and what shocked me most was their approach toward life at their tender age. Listen to one of conversation with Jimmy.

Jim; I do not school,i stay in a(leteroko) trailer over there(pointing to rusty muddy trailer)
Randi; Why?
Jim; No money and you know life is hard here.
Randi; if I give you money will you go school?
Jimm; give me I want leblara(tobacco) and no school
I want to you to see the above conversation the problem is not money, it is the mentality that has been installed by the environment surrounding Jimmy. Imagine the life of Jimmy he is now 12 years of age but his has a wrong mindset. Imagine him in the next 5 years he will be nothing but a gigantic Zombie.
External environment play a role in inventing our purposes or our fate.

Joseph was my neighbor during our school years. I observed his life crumble to pieces simply because where he lived, He lived in a SEPOTO (home with a BAR in it).Growing up he was tenacious and determined to be an asset to his family he observed all moral ethics and spiritual laws but a while. When we graduated to go for secondary education I started smell BOJALWA (Home made beer very corrosive) all over his body every time we were studying. Even though he was hiding it from me began to notice corrosives on his lips. Eventually he started drinking in the public with friends and suddenly beer corroded his life.Lastime I checked on him he was going around begging for some cents from good Samaritans. Terrible!!
Now how to be free from poverty?
Believe you rich; Even Jesus said if you believe all things are possible. Read books written by rich guys, watch inspirational movies, walk with great guys let them be where you anchor your faith. Read about great guys with great personnel and character.
Visualize yourself living better. You can only go as far as you can imagine or see. There is no limit to the extent of vison.How far can you see? How much can you dream? See yourself a manager, director, lawyer etcetera.
Then Say it: Confess your vision; keep saying what you want to be. Let it be in the present. Say I am a lawyer, I am happy, I have a good marriage. Say even though you don’t have it. Say it three to 10 times a day in the bathroom, kichen, bus stop and email me the result after 3 weeks.
