Lady Antebellum’s: “Own the Night” is the Best Album of 2011

I love, love, loved Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” album and one of my favorite songs off that album “Perfect Day” wasn’t even a chart topper. That just goes to show you that you have to actually buy the albums because there’s so much more to artist’s music than what is played on the radio! Having said that; I was super reluctant to purchase “Own the Night” simply because I thought Lady A could NOT produce anything better than “Need You Now”. Well – I am here to admit I was wrong (I don’t like to admit that…ever).

While I don’t agree with the title “Own The Night” (I would have gone with Just A Kiss, Friday Night, Singing Me Home or my personal favorite Cold As Stone) I know nothing about marketing so I’m sure the title was chosen by a super smart team of experts who knew exactly what they were doing!

It’s not about the title though; you can have a rockin title and rotten music. So I’ll concede on the title because the music is ROCKIN!

“Just a Kiss” is already a hit on mainstream Country Music stations everywhere but hold up – there’s more than just one hit on this album!

I will give you my personal favorites from the album. My favorite ballad is “Cold as Stone”. It’s about love gone bad and the lovers wish they were cold as stone so they wouldn’t have to feel the heartache. It’s well written, well song and beautifully orchestrated (the music at the end of the song is worth buying the entire album). My favorite up beat, rockin, summer fun song is “Singing Me Home”. I don’t know what I like most about it but it has a catchy chorus that I find myself singing throughout the day: oooh….love…sweet..love..keeps singing me home….keeps singing….love keeps singing. But there are many more goodies like “Friday Night”, “When You Were Mine”, “Wanted You More” and another sweet ballad “Heart of the World”.

If you love Country music, if you love Lady Antebellum then you will LOVE this album and it definitely has my vote for album of the year! Thanks Lady A!
