How to Detox Sugar from the Body

How can something so sweet as sugar be so detrimental to your health? That’s what many find themselves asking. It is hard to believe that something so sweet tasting and enjoyable can cause much damage to the body but it does. When consumed frequently over periods of time sugar can lead to; tooth decay, diabetes, cancer, constipation, kidney stones and more. Because of all the health problems sugar can cause it is best to eliminate or reduce sugar from your diet. Reducing or eliminating sugar from your diet may seem impossible at first because sugar is virtually in everything we eat. Sugar is in our vegetables, our fruits, and even our bread. A raw diet seems to be the only way to really stray away from sugar but it can also be a very difficult one to follow.

You don’t necessarily have to cut all the sugar from your life. Instead you should use it in moderation. A body detox is a good way to cleanse your body of sugar. Once detoxification is complete you can slowly introduce sugar in small amounts back into your body. Below are some simple steps on how to do a body detox. As always you should check with your provider before pursuing any type of diet to make sure that it is a safe route for you to take.

What you will need;

Before you can actually begin the detox there are a few items that you will need. You will need the following;

Cranberry Juice (natural, organic brand or prepared yourself)

Bag of Raw nuts of your choice such as (pumpkin seeds, almonds, or walnuts)

Fresh vegetables

Fresh Fruits (needed later on)

It’s best to get your sugar fixes in before you undergo the detoxification process. You can take a few days to indulge in your favorite treats before taking the big plunge. If you have great willpower you can take one day to enjoy the treats you like and then start the detox the following day.

Undergoing Detoxification:

The detoxification process only lasts for about three days. On the first day you will need to consume cranberry juice for the whole entire day. Four to six eight glasses of cranberry juice plus six glasses of water should be your daily goal. It is very important to talk with your doctor before pursuing a diet like this because as you can see for the first three days you will not take in any actual food, you will just be consuming liquids. A diet like this would obviously not be in the best interest of someone who is a diabetic, so always consult your physician before trying any extreme diet.

Cranberry juice is important to detoxification because it helps to flush out toxins in your body that have accumulated from eating certain foods and consuming medications. This juice can help prevent urinary tract infections, cancer, heart disease, respiratory infections, and stomach ulcers and can even improve oral hygiene. During this process you want to make sure to either make your own cranberry juice (omitting the sugar) or purchasing organic cranberry juice from a local health store.

On the second day you can breathe a bit better because you can now go back to eating food but not the fatty over processed kind. You want to stick to raw, fresh foods like vegetables, nuts, beans and fruits. I did mention earlier that you will drink liquids for three days straight but this is only if you are healthy enough to do so and have the willpower. If you are in good health you can actually hold off on eating food until about the third day. If you choose to eat on the second day try eating those raw foods plain without any sauces, oils or condiments. On the third day continue to consume the cranberry juice but thirty minutes before you eat dinner you should drink about four ounces of the cranberry juice. You can do this for every meal.

You should continue drinking the cranberry juice and to eat naturally and healthier for about two-eight weeks. After about two weeks or so you can resume your normal diet but lessening the junk. This type of detoxification is recommended once every three months. It is also important to remember to skip over the junk foods once in awhile and place healthier foods in your body.
