Start with the basics
Start by measuring the height of your kitchen table. Your island will have to be short enough to fit comfortably under the table. You will also want to make sure that it is not too wide. Be sure that when you measure under the table you push the table chairs all the way in so that a person will still be able to sit comfortably at the table. For some this may mean a very small cart, but don’t worry because this is still workable.
Make it or Buy it
You next have the option of making it yourself or buying one. If you are not that handy this does not necessarily mean that you can not make it yourself. You can easily do a Google search for some plans on how to make your own cart and fit it to the right dimensions. If however you find that you just don’t have the time to make your own, than you may choose to buy one instead. Just make sure that you get the right dimensions. What to place on cart
Next you will need to decide what you want to place on the cart. A kitchen cart is usually a good place to put hand towels so that they are within arms reach when you need it. You can also use the cart for bowls and any item that will not fit in your cabinet.
What not to place on cart
There are several things you don’t want to put on the cart. For starters you don’t want to put any glass on the cart, since it is going to be stored under the table, it can easily get broken. Not a place for food. Food items just should not be stored under the table on a cart. One of the main reasons is how easily it can get forgotten under the table. Remember that when an item is out of sight it is usually out of mind, and you may forget that you have plenty of an item already on hand.
Wheels are a must have
One thing that your cart must have is wheels. This really helps to be able to pull the cart out when you need it. This means that the items stored on the card should be set up.
