Halloween Celebrations in Philadelphia 2011

Ghouls enjoy the culture of Philadelphia too, and during October and Halloween, there is plenty of activities for them to do. Below find a list of some fun activites in and around the Philadelphia area.

Bates Haunted Motel and Haunted Hayride
Forty minutes from Philly, this great Halloween attraction in Glen Mills will not disappoint. Enjoy a hayride in the dark, zombies, a corn maze (haunted of course) and the Bates Motel, just as scary, or even more scary than the movie version. You can buy tickets in advance, and this venue opens September 30th and runs trhough October 31st.

Indian Acres Tree Farm
They boast haunted attractions such as “Warthogs’ School of Witchcraft and Mystery,” a “Graveyard of Lost Souls,” and a “Pirate Infested Bermuda Triangle” to name a few. Also enjoy their pumpkin picking, hayrides, local produce and so much more. Weekends. Located in Medford, NJ, about 1/2 an hour outisde of Philly.

Fright Fest at Six Flags
This is a popular attraction in Jackson, NJ (about an hour and a half from Philly) at Six Flags Great Adventure park. In its 20th year, they cater to kids and adults alike whether it be Halloween friendly shows and activities for the young ones to ghouls coming out in the night for the adults. Weekends from October 1 – 20 as well as Columbus day.

Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary
Literally! This is an old prison that has become a haunted house, so it does not get much creepier than that. Enjoy, although I am not sure that is the right word to use, a tour, a ghost bus, ghost sightings and so much more. Buy tickets in advance. The fun starts September 23rd and ends November 12th, but check website for specific days and times.
