Desire is the Key to Motivation; It Begets Recognition Which is the Greatest Motivator of All

“Desire is the key to motivation; it begets recognition which is the greatest motivator of all. Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it, but its determination as well as commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal — a commitment to excellence that will enable you to attain success that you are going to seek.”

Most of us knew since the start of existence that life, whether we like it or not, experiences the ups and downs. Sometimes we’re up and sometimes we’re down. It is inevitable for us to experience happiness at all times without experiencing sadness prior to laughter and giggles.

As a result, happiness comes from prolific desire which is the key to motivation. Yes, it is true that motivation is the need of the individual. If a student identifies the need to pass a subject, then he studies very hard to pass the subject. There are two general types of motivation: intrinsic and extrinsic motivations.

According to Wikipedia, intrinsic motivation refers to motivation that is driven by an interest or enjoyment in the task itself, and exists within the individual rather than relying on any external pressure. Intrinsic motivation has been studied by social and educational psychologists since the early 1970s. Research has found that it is usually associated with high educational achievement and enjoyment by students evaluation theory. Students are likely to be intrinsically motivated if they: attribute their educational results to internal factors that they can control (e.g. the amount of effort they put in); believe they can be effective agents in reaching desired goals (i.e. the results are not determined by luck); and are interested in mastering a topic, rather than just rote-learning to achieve good grades while extrinsic motivation comes from outside of the individual. Common extrinsic motivations are rewards like money and grades, coercion and threat of punishment. Competition is in general extrinsic because it encourages the performer to win and beat others, not to enjoy the intrinsic rewards of the activity. A crowd cheering on the individual and trophies are also extrinsic incentives. You are motivated by something you want in life because you think it is attainable and achievable. You are motivated to do good things in life because life is precious and we value it profoundly despite impediments. It is veritable that obstacles in life are the stumbling blocks to one’s success and one’s dream. They block your way to fame, success or stardom. Whatever you do, the dream will shatter and success will vanish into thin air. Life can’t function well if there is a hindrance along the way. Most people say that there is a panacea about the obstacles. And this panacea is true if you are really motivated to cease all of these things from getting into your life.

Life is a wonderful journey for our achievers, especially to our proud parents with their children who pan out this year with flying colors. An achiever’s path that you set and determine by the choices you make each day. As the saying goes, “The future belongs to those who strive hard academically, those who succeed by receiving the awards, and those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” So as you step out to meet the world each year with your mind prepared and your skills and achievements tuned, I urge you to set your academic direction with positive attitude and strong spirit.

Let us celebrate the days of recognition and success and always prepare for the challenges that meet each of us as we venture throughout life. Although we may consciously make the most positive decisions in day-to-day struggles, you and I still know that there will always be hard times and days ahead of us. It is during the times of success that people will know our name, and it is during the hard days of trouble that people will know our intensity of positive trait or negative trait.

To our students, both in public and private schools, all of you are now the recipients of this school year with various academic awards and you are equipped with a caliber of intelligence to take center stage among others and take on the world of recognition and achievements. Your life is now your destiny and destiny will preordain you to do things that are expedient and righteous for the common good. A prestigious school will not impose deadlines but give constant learning struggles to achieve so that everyone will carry out the challenged tasks and will be responsive to them by hook or by crook. Whether we like it or not, your life is yours to create and my life is the gateway to nation-building. We have simply built a strong foundation for the future you must independently design and build.

I leave to you a very challenging message, a very famous quotation: “Watch your thoughts, they become words. Watch your words, they become actions. Watch your actions, they become habits. Watch your habits, they become character. Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”
