Be sure to dress for the weather and take along some snacks as it can take a while to track down the perfect Christmas tree to cut.

Quarter Pine Christmas Tree Farm. Located just 20 minutes from Morgantown, W. Va.,, Quarter Pine Christmas Tree Farm specializes in Christmas trees for wholesale and retail markets. Quarter Pine Christmas Tree Farm encourages visitors to “choose and cut” the fresh Christmas tree of their choice. After shaking the needles loose, workers bale your cut Christmas tree for easy transportation. The tree farm also has fresh wreaths, pine roping and swags available for customers to purchase. Pick up a “Stand Straight Christmas Tree Stand” that the tree farm says will have your tree up in around 30 seconds. May Tree Enterprises, LLC. Opening just after Thanksgiving, May Tree Enterprises, LLC will be ready to accommodate visitors from all over as they cut down their choice of live Christmas trees. The tree farm has five different choose and cut Christmas trees available including Scotch Pine, Douglas Fir, Concolor Fir, Colorado Blue Spruce, and Fraser Firs. Fraser Firs are also pre-cut for anyone who doesn’t want to wander through the hillsides to cut their own. Prices start at $5 per foot. Fresh Fir wreaths and swags are also available. Live trees are available for visitors wishing to plant their tree once the holidays are over.

Allen DeHaven Trees. Located at 201 Mylena Drive in Hedgesville, W. Va., Allen DeHaven Trees are open from the weekend after Thanksgiving through the last Sunday before Christmas. Visit the Christmas tree farm Thursday through Sunday to tag your favorite tree to be cut down closer to the holidays. With several thousand trees on the grounds, Allen DeHaven Trees are sure to stay busy. Prices start at $20, and children will receive a free candy cane upon arrival. Mountain Vista Christmas Tree Farm. Located on Black Oak Road in Princeton, W. Va., Mountain Vista Christmas Tree Farm is in a spectacular location you’ll have to see to believe. Experience the breathtaking view while you cut your own Christmas tree or call in advance and have the tree farm cut it for you. Although tree baling is not available, they do offer carts, kneeling mats, a measuring post, gloves and a saw for your convenience. Bring along a sled or snowboard and have some good old fashioned family fun after you have found the perfect Christmas tree to cut. Benches and a fire pit are available for resting and warming yourself on cold days. Christmas tree varieties include Colorado Blue Spruce, Canaan Fir, Norway Spruce, White Pine and Fraser Fir.
