Does anyone knows how the magnetic small bullets work for acupuncture?
Q: OK, My friend keepts telling me about this diet (acupuncture) which they put some small magnetic bullets by your ears. I heard it works from a lot of people but can someone explain hoe it really works? I mean what do they really do, how does this point help you and in what area? thanks for the help!!!
A: Ohh – that raises a few skeptical red flags! The old quackery detector has gone off!Firstly, it is known that therapeutic magnets have no effect on human tissue or blood. The iron in your hemoglobin is not ferromagnetic. No magnet therapy has ever been shown to perform better than placebo. If magnet could have an effect – imagine what an MRI machine would do to you. They are several orders of magnitude stronger then therapy magnets – I think it would not be a pleasant sight and a very messy clean up job.I would not believe a word of this until proper independent, peer reviewed, controlled clinical trials that show efficacy are presented.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnet_therapy
Does acupuncture help a woman increase fertility?
Q: I am 42 and have recently been diagnosed with premature ovarian failure with FSH of 48.5. My doctor told me that I would NEVER be able to conceive a baby with my own eggs, and that I should try IVF with donor eggs, which is not what I want to go through. Do you know somebody who could increase fertility and get pregnant with acupuncture treatment? I would appreciate to hear your answer.
A: I believe in it. I was so skeptical at first but as someone with first hand experience I can tell you it helped make a world of difference in my IVF cycles. I failed 3, have POF, and did have a high FSH. I started acupuncture, wheat grass, royal jelly, and vitamins. I took the herbs prescribed by my acupuncturist as well. I also started stress relieving techniques like walking, meditation, and yoga. My FSH dropped greatly and I got pregnant my 4th IVF cycles. My only pregnancy. It did unfortunately end in a loss due to immune issues. I really know that acupuncture and the dietary and lifestyle changes I made contributed to my short lived success. I would start those things now!I really hate RE’s who suggest donor eggs without offering other options. I know a women whose FSH was 56 and her IVF twins are 2 now. I would check out two books:The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis and Inconceivable by Julia Indichova. The latter author had a FSH of 42 and with the changes she make hers dropped to under 10 and she conceived naturally. Here is Lewis’ website. http://www.thefertilesoul.com/ Check out “Knowledge Base” then “Understanding Your Diagnosis” for some great suggestions for lowering FSH.I also suggest you looking in joining the “HighFSHers/POF” at Fertilethoughts.com. They are a great, welcoming group of gals who know what it is like to be in our shoes. You can also see there many high FSH success stories. http://www.fertilethoughts.com/forums/high-fsh-premature-ovarian-failure/Sending positive thoughts!!!
How does acupuncture work on sports injuries?
Q: I’m wondering mostly if it just masks the pain… I have what I think is a small tear on where the muscle attaches on the inside of my knee. I got acupuncture on it yesterday and it feels remarkably better. If it just masks the pain I don’t want to make it worse… but the Chinese medicine woman I went to said to run all I want. How does it work?should I run if it feels good?
A: Whomever told you to “run all you want” is completely irresponsible and I am banging my hand against my head and sighing…I would take it easy for a while. Walk and see how that feels… Any reputable acupuncturist would encourage you to seek radiology/mri before telling you to “run all you want” if you indeed feel that you tore something. Acupuncture works in a variety of ways – the verdict is still out and no one really knows HOW it works – don’t let anyone tell you anything differently. There are several valid explanations. My personal belief is that we are sending specific signals to our brain to stimulate healing in different parts of our bodies depending on where we put the needles. Our nervous system is very complex. Get a different acupuncturist – that is my best advice. A good herbal protocol will also help strengthen your sinews and muscles.
