This Yahoo Contributor really enjoyed the movie Water For Elephants. I went to see it with a family member. I walked into the theater not knowing anything about this movie. I walked out stunned by the life of both the animals and the staff who were a part of making a circus a success. This Yahoo Contributor thought this was a great 2011 movie because of the details. This 2011 movie follows the storyline of the book Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I haven’t read the book, but I am really glad I saw the movie. Water For Elephants basically follows the life of Jacob Jankowski and the rise and fall of the Benzini Circus in 1931.
The movie director of Water For Elephants, Francis Lawrence, did a create job of retelling the entriguing story of Jacob Jankowski and the Benzeni Circus. Just as a warning this is definitely not a movie for kids. Circus life is not easy or politically correct for the animals or the human performers who worked very hard to entertain people. However, if the readers of this article enjoy movie lines based on any type of history or a good love story, Water For Elephants is a great movie. According to www.wikipedia.org/WaterforElephants(film), there was concern about how the animals were treated during the filming of this movie. No extreme misuse of the animals in this film was found. The reality is that unfortunately, in 1931 animals didn’t have the rights and weren’t as protected as they are now. Again no misuse of these animals was reported. However, animal lovers will have a real hard time watching this movie.
This Yahoo Contributor thought this movie was great because of how the 2011 actors and actresses were able to actually place themselves in their roles of people during the 1930’s. In other words, this viewer didn’t see the actress Reese Witherspoon, I saw her character Marlena Rosenbluth. Actor Chrisoph Waltz portrayed the Benzini Ring Leader August Rosenbluth remarkably well. Of course, movie viewers hearts were pulling for Jacob Jankowski. There were two actors that depicted the life of Jacob Jankowski in the movie Water For Elephants. Hal Holbrook portrayed the elder Jankowski while Robert Pattinson depicted Jacob Jankowski during the younger years.
This Yahoo Contributor also enjoyed the way this film showed the personality of animals as well. The elephant Tai the portrayed Rosie in Water For Elephants was actually quite funny at times. Animals have a way a of showing unique personalities in their own way.
Water For Elephants really is a great depiction of the hard life of the circus in the early 1900’s. Water For Elephants is also a beautiful love story. Water For Elephants is a great 2011 movie.
