Wasted Honey

Soft iridescent wings floating silently through the trees;
far away from their home, the little bees must roam.
Sucking with all their mighty power,
nectar from that sweet woodland flower.

Their soldiers’ mission………..protect the hive,
making the ultimate sacrifice to keep their family alive.
For on the unsuspecting victim they would spring,
rendering their sharp, ferocious sting.

Fearful people in the nearby town,
fatefully decided that hive must come down.
Poor limp bodies now on the ground;
pieces of honeycomb scattered around.

Let’s change this to a happy ending,
tho’ the real truth we are bending,
When from the tree the bees were rid,
twas’ by a caring beekeeper instead.

Thankfully now, those bees are still alive;
tucked away safe and happy in their new hive.
Sucking with all their mighty power,
nectar from that sweet woodland flower.
