Soul Surfer is my favorite movie of 2011. It stars; AnnaSophia Robb, Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood and Dennis Quaid. It is the true story of how surfer Bethany Hamilton lost her arm in a shark attack and kept pursuing her goal of becoming a surfer.

13 year old Hawaiian native Bethany Hamilton (Robb) was one day sitting on her surfboard in the water with her friends when all of a sudden a tiger shark came along and bite her arm off. She went to the hospital bleeding and praying that she was going to make it. Luckily she did the only thing was she had to have a prosthetic arm. She felt as if there was something wrong with her and was treated differently by people. When she found out that she couldn’t surf with a prosthetic arm she decided not to get it. Her mother Cheri (Hunt) wasn’t for her going back in the water and her father Tom (Quaid) was. She was nervous at first and she would go to her friend who was also her bible teacher Sarah (Underwood). She kept on training until her dream finally came true.

Soul Surfer is my favorite movie of 2011 because it is very inspirational. It shows that no matter what situation you are in you can accomplish anything that you want to. It shows that good comes out of every bad situation. It also portrays how it is important to stay determined towards your goals. If you keep pursuing them no matter what the results look like, you can achieve what you want to achieve. I love how there are inspirational life quotes throughout the movie. I also love the last line of the movie. It made me leave the theater with such inspiration. I think that everyone in the movie did a great job with their performance.

Soul Surfer hit theaters on April 8th 2011. It is now available on demand. It a must see for all ages. It will leave everyone with such inspiration and a spiritual feeling. It also shows how other people are in worse situations than us, so we shouldn’t take anything for granted.
