Social Security for “Baby-Man”?

We live in a day in age when everything can be diagnosed and drugged. We think that everything from the sniffles to our worries can be cured with a pill. Some people even claim that spending money makes them feel more at ease, but do not spend that time focusing on the real issues in their life. There is a man living off of social security because he is said to be mentally ill. I am calling him “Baby-Man”. He is, in my opinion, the epitome of the self-absorbed, prideful, and selfish man most women have to deal with these days.

According to this article, Baby-Man likes to suck on pacifiers, play in a play pen, be diapered, and other infantile gestures. Sick! Just sick and wrong! Oh, and by the way… did I mention that your tax dollars have been and are paying for this guy? With a history of abuse Baby-Man claims he needs to act this way so he feels comforted and safe. However, it is shown that he can build furniture, drive a car, and buy things at a store. Is it not wrong to assume that this man could and SHOULD be working? He even has a website! The last time I checked, infants were incapable of doing all those things. So, why are we paying for him?

Apparently he has said he would kill himself if his Social Security were to be taken away from him. HIS Social Security? How much could he have earned if he has not worked full time. He is 30 years old. He is 30 years old. Let me say it again – he is 30 years old! I can see it now: Every man around 30 begins to feel abused or taken advantage of in some way or another. They claim mental illness, find a psychiatrist who will appease their desires, get their diagnosis AND their Social Security check. What if that was how the world worked? Oh wait! It does!

I knew someone who decided they were just too depressed to work. Now, keep in mind I know there are people out there with real depression, real medication needs, and real need for help. This was not that type of person. They were fully able to get and keep a job. But, they just felt they needed time off. So, what did they do? They found a psychiatrist, got a diagnosis of depression, and then got on California disability aid.

This makes me wonder how much tax-payer money has been spent on those who are just bummed out and don’t feel like working? How much tax-payer money has been spent on those who could and should work, and get some professional help? My guess is millions, if not billions, of dollars. Skeptics should not be surprised if those numbers come out to be true. People scam the system of welfare, especially government welfare, all the time. People lie on section 8 applications, receive money under the table to avoid child support payments, get doctored paystubs to get more food stamp money or daycare assistance.

Baby-Man is just one of many examples of people who would rather baby down than man up and deal with their issues. I once heard someone state that it takes real strength to admit you have a problem. I concur, yet would like to add to that idea: It takes real strength to admit you have a problem AND then to face it head on! Cheers to those who do not live off the government tab because they would rather be a Baby-Man!
