November: A Poem

He sits in a chair that rocks splintered boards,
Sunlight dappling wrinkled hands;
His breath flows crisp and pungent.
Folly has left him with the heat of youth
And his still heart waits upon a quiet evening.
He listens for the crunch of pine needles,
Somewhere a leaf falls in the forest,
The ground is full of tears.
