Night Stand Clothing Storage

When times get hard many of us resort to cutting back on expenses, cooking at home rather than going out to eat, and otherwise making things easier on ourselves, financially. When times get like that, and stay like that, it often teaches us to appreciate the smaller things in life. Instead of going out, when times get a little better, and spending like crazy, we make do with what we have, or make small purchases only of things we absolutely need. If you’re trying to get your home in order, and you’re needing furnishings and more, you might have decided to make do, for now, with the things you already have. Hopefully, you have beds, dressers, a sofa and some chairs, as well as dining furniture. But for the little things, like, say, a night stand, there are some things that, maybe they aren’t night stands, but they’ll work just as well.

Maybe you live in a small home where space is a problem and you need storage room. Or, possibly you just need a night stand, and if it comes with storage space, even better. But whatever the scenario is you don’t have to go out and purchase expensive wooden or other night stands for the bedrooms in your home. You can have a night stand and lots of storage space at the same time when you use ordinary suitcases.

Suitcases which have the hard sides – the older type of suitcases – work great to create a tower-type night stand. But if you’re going to keep seasonal clothing or even linens in the suitcases, and keep them full, you can sometimes use the fabric or other soft-side suitcases of today. Don’t have that many small suitcases? Look for them at flea markets and thrift stores; they’re not usually hard to find.

The suitcases you use to build your night stand don’t necessarily have to be identical. You can create a charming look for the night stand by using suitcases which blend together but don’t necessarily match. Lay one down on the floor so that the handle faces outward. Stack another suitcase in the same manner, and stack even more, until the night stand is at an appropriate size for your bed.

You’ll create one look if you use suitcases which are all the same size but a different look by stacking suitcases which diminish in size as they go up. No matter which arrangement you do you’ll find yourself with a night stand that has a country or casual feel as well as a whole new storage unit, too.
