‘Glee’ Goes Bollywood: What Songs Should the Show Perform?

“Glee” is planning to get some Bollywood into their repertoire, according to the Times of India, and this “Glee” fan couldn’t be more excited. Bollywood songs are always fun and colorful, and that is definitely something a failing “Glee” needs. Here’s hoping they do a huge production number and not just a few characters dancing in the glee club room. The choice for song is supposed to be a popular one, but since there are many popular Bollywood songs, it’s hard to pinpoint which one it will be. Here are a few songs that this Bollywood fan would love to see “Glee” perform, and hopefully, not ruin.

“Dance pe Chance” from “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”: “Dance pe Chance” is the obvious and perfect choice for a “Glee” song. The entire song is about teaching someone to dance, and since the “Glee” episode is about teaching members about Bollywood and Bollywood dance, this song is perfect.

“Koi Mil Gaya” from “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai:” This song, from the Bollywood mega-hit, is the most fun. If the song is from a popular film, it doesn’t get more popular than this one. Since the show needs an upbeat, fun song, then “Koi Mil Gaya” is a better choice than the title song.

“Discowale Khisko” from “Dil Bole Hadippa”: The songs in this movie are non-stop fun from beginning to end, so it is difficult to pick which one would be great for “Glee.” This song wins because it is not only fun, but also shows Indian culture and dance, and “Glee” could use that, too. Of course, who doesn’t melt under Shahid Kapoor’s smile?

“Gori Gori” from “Main Hoon Na”: Another classic Bollywood movie that everyone who likes Bollywood knows. “Gori Gori” is silly, fun and upbeat. It sounds like a cross between Bollywood and swing music. It would be fun to see “Glee” members dancing to this song.

“Rock ‘n Roll Soniye” from “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna”: This song would be perfect if the Indian guest on “Glee” is male. Of course, a girl could sing it, too. Like all the rest, it is an upbeat dance hit. Of course, everything is amazing when it is the Bachchans together.

“Ruk Ja O Dil Deewane” from “Dilwale Dulhanie Le Jayenge”: DDLJ is another famous Bollywood movie that everyone seems to know, and is referenced in many other films. If “Glee” is going for something famous, this movie is it. This song is a lot of fun and the most upbeat in the movie.

An obvious choice would come from “Om Shanti Om,” such as “Deewangi Deewangi” or “Dhoom Taana,” which was also featured on “So You Think You Can Dance.” Any other ideas for a Bollywood song on “Glee”?
