Entertainment, a Holiday Event, “A Soulful Christmas”,

I attended “Soulful Christmas”, a charity event for the Danny Wright Foundation. This event was just what their title promised soulful, merry and a great introduction to the Christmas holiday.

What a wonderful line-up of talent! There were around 25 performers and musicians including many from the Las Vegas strip hotels like Domenick Allen, Magician Jan Rouven, the Lion King cast n’ Crew ensemble, Bobby Brooks Wilson, Dennis and Lorraine Bono along with other entertainers. Usually these events don’t offer so much talent!

When international concert pianist Danny Wright sat down to play, I was amazed how skillfully he completed some of the most complex classical and other numbers. His hands seemed to be “on fire” as they touched the keys. I enjoyed Danny’s performance and all of the other entertainers who gave their time to help this charity.

Although I had never seen Danny perform before, he has won awards and been recognized for his talent. With 31 recordings and millions of albums sold including 5 million CD’s since his debut album in 1986, Danny was twice named by Billboard Magazine as a Top 10 artist in his genre. The National Association of Record Merchandisers named him the Best Seller twice.

Danny Wright’s destiny began to unfold at age four when he reached up and played the theme from Dr. Zhivago on the piano in the family’s living room. Recognizing an exceptional gift, his parents arranged for study under the respected professor, Dr. Harris Cavender. Today he blends classical with contemporary jazz and neoclassical music.

The guests enjoyed a cocktail party and all-you-can-eat buffet before the show. The event was held in Binion Casino’s banquet room downtown on Fremont Street.

The Danny Wright Foundation was established to help local individuals and the community through the power of music. Their mission statement: “Healing the planet one heart at a time. They are dedicated to enriching the lives of all people with the understanding of, and appreciation for, the healing power of music. The foundation helps people the “Wright” way.” www.dannywright.com/dw/index.php www.binions.com
