DALLAS COWBOY’S FAN SEASON JOURNAL ENTRY #17

As a sports fan, some games take you back. You watch the game happening today, and memories of past games flood back. The game between the Cowboys and Bills today did that for me. The Cowboys had the Bills number all day. Nothing the Bills did was working, everything the Cowboys tried did.

Super Bowl XXVII was the same way. The Cowboys won that game in much the same fashion, 52 to 17., a 35 point margin. Today the Cowboys won by 37, scoring 44 while the Bills managed only 7. The loan touchdown the Bills scored did bring a kind of weird moment with David Nelson giving the ball to his Cowboy cheerleader girlfriend. That was the best move all day by a Bill.

Tony Romo was good today, just like Troy Aikman was in the Super Bowl against the Bills. Very similar numbers, Aikman was 22 of 30 for 273 yards and four touchdowns, Romo was 23 of 26 for 270 yards and three touchdowns. Emmit Smith ran for 108 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown, today DeMarrco Murray had 135 yards on 20 carries with a touchdown. The defense scored a touchdown in both games, Ken Norton in the Super Bowl, Terrance Newman got one today.

Yes it was fun watching the game today, brought back memories of days gone by. If the Cowboys continue to play like they did today and last week, those games against the New York Giants in December are going to mean something. The Cowboys should go into the game on December 12, with a five game winning streak and a record of eight wins and three losses, two of which could have been wins. This Cowboys team may not be the Cowboys of Aikman and Emmitt days, but they might be in the same position come the end of the season. Having a chance to play in the Super Bowl.

The emergence of DeMarrco Murray has done for Romo, what Emmitt did for Aikman. The pressure of doing it all on his on is gone, and Romo is much better for it. We may be watching the Cowboys start another run, and it feels good.
