Adorable Wire Bird Nest

If you love doing decorator projects, everything you’re able to make for yourself saves you money, plus allows you to have things just how you want them. It doesn’t matter if you’re making your own wall groupings or creating new photo arrangements, if you can do it all yourself, you’ll be better off for it. That’s one of the reasons why you’ll love a fun project that helps you make a metallic bird nest. A wire bird nest is very simple to make but looks elegant – alone or along with another project.

Use wire and you can make a beautiful bird nest without much effort. Choose wire in any color – wire now comes in many different colors – and make sure the wire is very pliable. It should not be difficult for you to bend the wire. You’ll find many choices for wire at a large home improvement store.

Choose beads that match your wire or, when you’re finished making the nest with eggs, paint the whole thing the color you want. Look for beads which are shaped like eggs – you’ll find plenty of different types at a local craft store or online. Fake pearl types are just one of many choices.

Slide three beads onto the chosen wire and slide them down the wire, several inches. Now begin wrapping the wire around and around itself to form the nest shape. As you do this, wrap and tuck the end of the wire into itself so that you can’t see it. Continue wrapping the opposite end of the wire over and over again to shape the nest you want. As you wrap and shape the wire, keep the eggs centered in the nest. When the nest is as large as you want it to be, clip the end, and tuck it into the nest – but not on the bottom or the nest might not sit level.

When the nest is finished you can paint it or use it as it is. The nest can be displayed in a case with other miniatures or can be a part of a larger decorator project. For example, the nest can be mounted on an indoor tree or flower arrangement, or you can attach it to a deep picture frame that depicts a bird in the photo. When you attach the nest to the picture frame you create a 3-d effect that’s adorable.

The wire bird nest is as pretty as can be and really simple to make. For a small nest, tiny beads work well, but for a larger nest, consider painting large, wooden beads as eggs, or just glue miniature eggs from a craft store, right to the nest. You’ll love it.
