3-Step Herbal Hair Treatment for Dry, Brittle Hair

Even the healthiest of hair can become dry and brittle at some point. Causes of dry hair can range from environmental factors to genetics. Overexposure to the sun, harsh winds and presence of minerals in water used to wash our hair can contribute to dry, brittle hair. Use of hair treatments, such as peroxide bleach, hair color, perms, color developer, relaxers and even commercial styling products can make hair look and feel damaged. Fortunately, there are many natural treatments that can help transform hair from dry to healthy in a single treatment. Follow this 3-step hair treatment to fix dry, brittle hair.

Herbal Shampoo
Create herbal shampoo with two-parts herbal fusion and one-part liquid castile soap. Castile is a type of liquid soap derived from coconut and olive oils. Mix in 1-teaspoon glycerin per 200-milliliters of herbal shampoo.

Add herbal infusion according to your hair color or hair type:
-Blondes: Calendula marigold or chamomile infusion
-Brunettes: Sage or rosemary infusion
-Dry Hair: Red clover, chamomile or comfrey infusion
-Oily Hair: Lemon balm, yarrow, lemongrass or thyme infusion
-All Hair Types: Linden, parsley, nettle or rosemary

Add ½-cup of honey and ¼-cup of olive oil for damaged, dry or treated hair. Combine with ¼-cup boiling water. Mix in 1-teaspoon Vitamin B liquid and allow the mixture to cool. Apply entire mixture to scalp and lather well. Rinse hair thoroughly with cool water.

Conditioner
In a medium-size bowl, combine ½-cup mayonnaise, 5-drops of shampoo, ¼-cup warm water, 2-capsules of Vitamin E and 1-teaspoon of Vitamin A. Wash hair like usual with a regular shampoo. Apply the natural conditioner from roots to tips. Allow the conditioner to set for 10 minutes before rinsing.

Herbal Rinse
Rinse hair with herbal infusion to create shiny and soft tresses. Pour the herbal infusion over the scalp directly after washing and rising. Catch the infusion in a bowl under the head and re-rinse several times. Regular use of the herbal infusion will create natural highlights and tint over time.

Add herbal infusion according to your hair color:
-Blonde Hair: Marigold or chamomile
-Brunette Hair: Sage, rosemary, parsley or catnip
-For All Hair Colors: Nettle, catnip, yarrow or parsley

Follow the herbal rinse with a cleansing rinse to remove hair build-up. Combine 1-cup warm water with ¼-cup white vinegar. Pour the rinse over the hair. Finish with a final wash with a regular shampoo and conditioner and a cold water rinse to seal cuticles and enhance shine.
