10 Items Every School Kid Needs

Notebooks – Every kid needs notebooks to take notes, write down assignments and do their homework on. It doesn’t matter what age a child is, they will need notebooks throughout the year.

Pens and Pencils – You can’t do any school work if you have nothing to write with. Pencils are great for kids, but when they start moving up in grades, their teachers may require that they start to use pens to do their assignments in. A red pen is also helpful when doing peer corrections of papers or when correcting math homework.

Colored Pencils or Crayons – Whether your student is in high school or kindergarten, colored pencils or crayons are a necessity for assignments that involve details, charts or other things that they want to differentiate with detail.

Ruler – Not only are rulers good for math, but any art project that consists of creating a straight lines. Rulers are also great for helping to teach school age children numbers. It gives them a picture to associate with the sound.

Calculator – Kids are learning harder math now at earlier ages. Because of this, calculators are becoming a necessity for most all grades.

Erasers – Not only are erasers a necessity for art projects, but the ones that come on your pencil never lasts nearly as long as the pencil does. To ensure that your child has plenty of erasing abilities available to them, extra erasers are a must.

Backpack – Between school books and all the supplies that your child will need to carry around from class to class, a backpack is necessary to keep all their things in. Make sure that backpack they select is heavy duty and has two straps so that the weight of their school world will be distributed evenly across their shoulders.

Pencil Box – This is the perfect place for keeping pens, pencils and erasers as well as pencil sharpeners and other small gadgets that may get lost or broken easily in a backpack.

Personal Water Bottle – With so many germs floating around water fountains and other kid’s water bottles, making sure that your child has their own personal water bottle is a good idea. It helps eliminate germs and colds.

Computer – Whether your child has their own personal computer or not is up to you, but a computer in the home is a necessity in today’s times. Your child will need to use one regularly for homework help, research for class assignments and to type up school papers. Even the younger grades are being taught computers so they can get around on the Internet.
