Being a big fan and regular consumer of the Cafe W line of food products sold at Walgreens Pharmacies, I had to try the Cafe W Very Teriyaki Pineapple Chicken when I saw it in the freezer case at a West Hartford, Comnecticut Walgreens Pharmacy earlier this summer. After sitting in my freezer for several weeks, I decided to eat this frozen dinner recently and I’m glad that I did so.

The servings of spinach and brown rice wheat berry pilaf in this frozen dinner are pretty good sized and when the dinner is cooked according to instructions, both offer desirable textures. The overall mouth – feel offered by this dinner is very pleasing.

In my humble opinion, Walgreens Cafe W Very Teriyaki Pineapple Chicken is an exceptionally flavorful product. The chunks of chicken actually taste like real chicken and the teriyaki sauce is a very good version of the sauce. The pieces of pineapple add a fresh and somewhat sophisticated taste to the sauce, but the dish could benefit from the inclusion of more pineapple.
The brown rice – wheat berry pilaf offers a slightly nutty and exotic flavor and the spinach tastes quite fresh and vibrant. Honestly, this is one of the best – tasting frozen dinners I’ve eaten in a long time. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of 9.85.
Packaging
Walgreens’ Cafe W Very Teriyaki Pineapple Chicken is packaged in an attractively – designed cardboard box. To me, the front label looks like modern art deco styling. The left half features a black background with gray spirals and white and green lettering and numerals. The right side of the front label shows an appetizing illustration of the enclosed dinner on a plate and the rear label lists all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information. Inside the box, the dinner is further packaged in a plastic pouch.
Overall Rating
This frozen dinner is very, very tasty. To my tastebuds, this teriyaki chicken dinner is pretty close to restaurant quality food. I hope that Walgreens keeps this item in stock. If your local Walgreens Pharmacy does not have this item on hand, try asking the manager if it can be ordered. It’s definitely worth asking for.
