Volunteer Opportunities in San Bernardino County

Several volunteer opportunities are available in San Bernardino County, Calif., many of which support community members who are homeless or who live in poverty. The Re:Live Thrift Store in Loma Linda heads up many such volunteer opportunities and welcomes help from people of all ages. Re:Live is the young adult ministry of the Loma Linda University Church. Though most of its members are Seventh Day Adventist, they welcome anyone who is willing to serve the community.

Backpack Ministry
Re:Live has partnered with Helping Hands Pantry to help feed as many of the 2,800 homeless children of San Bernardino as they can. They need food and monetary donations, as well as volunteers to help pack backpacks with food for homeless kids. Helping Hands also needs drivers to help deliver the backpacks. Contact Joel Verhoef at 909-677-7791 for more information.

Thrift Store Volunteers
The Re:Live Thrift Store is a “social enterprise that seeks to support families in need.” They work with partners Helping Hands Pantry and Adventist Community Team Services to support homeless efforts in San Bernardino. The store accepts donations and then sells items at low prices or simply gives them to people in need. Proceeds go to support the homeless ministry and other mission projects. The Re:Live Thrift Store needs volunteers to help sort through donations; price and tag donations; clean; and help with online sales, cashiering, stocking, and floor displays.
