From the first time I played the first Resident Evil game I was impressed with Albert Wesker. Having never played a game like it, Resident Evil quickly became my favorite game. The characters and the whole story were very fascinating. It made for a very fun play through. The reason Wesker impressed me so much right off was from the beginning he was so mysterious. He was the leader of the team going in to investigate after having been part of the company that was conducting all of the experiments that were supposedly taking place at the mansion as well. But no one knew exactly what those experiments entailed and Wesker wasn’t about to tell anyone what part he had played in them a few years ago. Even though he isn’t one of the playable characters in any of the main stories the games do a really nice job of creating a background and story for him.
Albert Wesker has appeared in a number of the Resident Evil games, each showing us a little bit more into his character. He first appeared as the leader of the S.T.A.R.S team in the first Resident Evil game and turned out to be one of the main villains. At the end of that game he was presumed to be dead and did not show up in the next two games in the series. He then reappears in Resident Evil Code: Veronica as a main antagonist. In Resident Evil Zero, which is a prequel to the first game in the series, Wesker appears and a little more into his background and involvement in the mansion incident are revealed. In Resident Evil 4, Albert Wesker makes an appearance as the man behind the scenes trying to resurrect the bioweapon research. He is the main antagonist in Resident Evil 5, mutating and changing his form for the final fight in the game. He also appears in a couple of the side story games Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.
The most recognizable characteristic of Albert Wesker is his cool and calm demeanor in any situation. He is always wearing his sunglasses and never seems to get flustered by anything going on around him. It is this trait that has gotten him to the top and recognized as a true leader. This is also what allows him the ability to deceive everyone he is involved with and make any number of his own plans without anyone knowing. Steeped in mystery and a calm and cool character, Albert Wesker is one of my favorites of all time.
