Six Summer Fashion and Beauty Trends You Can Wear This Fall

Summer seems to have come to an abrupt ending this year, but not so for summer’s best fashion and beauty trends. Here are six summer fashion trends that you can carry over right into your fall wardrobe. Don’t be afraid to mix and match summer and fall pieces to create a fresh, modern look that is just right for you. Think outside the fashion box and you’ll be rewarded with great style. Here are six ideas to get you started.

Denim shorts. Those cute, cuffed denim shorts are a summer staple. But just because there’s a chill in the air doesn’t mean you have to put them away anytime soon. Rock those denim, tweed, or twill shorts just a little bit longer without the flip-flops and tank tops. Wear them with a pair of chunky, textured tights and your favorite boots. Over the knee boots are perfect for a night out, but you might also try a pair of cowboy boots or even a pair of shooties, if they suit your body frame and your style.

Maxi dress. I adored my maxi dress, but I didn’t get to wear it enough. The good news is that a maxi dress is still on trend for fall, especially if it bears thick horizontal stripes. Balance the flimsy fabric with a fitted, long sleeve T underneath or a heavy sweater over top and a great pair of boots. You could even mix it up with a turtle neck and boyfriend blazer for an urban edgy look. You may want to layer a pair of heavy tights for warmth, even though you won’t see them under that long, billowy dress.

Flimsy blouse. Lightweight, flimsy blouses were one of my favorite summer fashions. No matter what the fabric weight, you can keep wearing them all fall. Just layer them over a turtleneck or long sleeve T instead of a tank. Pair them with boots and leggings, or the infamous ‘jegging. White, lacy garments look especially edgy against charcoal or black tops. Pair darker colored tops with cream for contrast. Don’t be afraid to throw on a blazer or chunky knit sweater for extra warmth. The more layers, the more interesting the look.

Ombre hair. This lovely look was all the rage for summertime, with its dark roots and pale, pale ends. Now the look is growing out, and summer is done, so what can you do with it? Simple. Keep it going a while longer, but tone it down a bit. Have your stylist add some lowlights to soften the look, and make sure he or she tones out any brassiness or gold tones. Keep the look neutral and subtle so you can keep it going all autumn long.

Purple shadow. How I love metallic, purple shadow! Thankfully, its a trend that hasn’t run its course just yet. Keep the look simple – swipe a deep, shimmery purple on your upper eye lids, and under the eye as well. Top it off with two coats of dramatic mascara. Only line your eyes if you absolutely must. This look is fast and easy to pull off.

Red lips. The red lip is a classic look for anyone. Keep the eyes neutral – but try a matte cashmere for fall instead or a shimmery summer taupe. Skip the blush and focus instead on a clean, matte red lip. A dot of gloss in the center of your bottom lip will make it looker fuller, if needed. Finish your face with a light dusting of powder – and don’t forget to check your teeth! All eyes will be drawn right to your gorgeous smile.

Whatever you wear this fall, wear it with confidence! Your genuine smile and charm are your best accessories. Wear them often and wear them well!
