Restoring Truth in Libya

I was reading “The Christian Science Monitor” at the Christian Science Reading Room and found a revolution in Libya’s schools. It was the first revolution in forty years since 1969. That was forty two years since 1969.

It was forty-two years of corruption and now the schools are aiming for the truth. To see a change in America like this would be fascinating. It was very evident that Libya was in bad shape. This is a great example to all schools nationally and internationally.

Teachers in Libya shook their head at the name Maarakat El Larama Elemenetary School in the eastern Libyan city of Benghaze. Muammar Qaddafi ruled Libya for forty-two years after 1969 and then was ousted by a revolution in education. There was fighting and the school closed and reopened on September 17.

In my life in Crown Point, Indiana of the United States there were political fights a bout new builidings and arts and music over the last ten years. That raised taxes. I thank the Lord above there are new school buildings and fun great things such as arts and music that did not get turned to shambles. But the poor are suffering from high taxes and the truth is not spoken clearly.

In Libya teachers decided to restore the schools original name to El Nemuthajia which means “exemplary”. Crown Point is a historical city that needs the truth restored to. So do all schools internationally and nationally. Libya’s new name for the school is crucial to building a strong democratic country. America has a democratic president now and we are are not strong. Libya recognizes the fact they need help. Teachers pay is dismal like in America. There is little training. May we have education like the top colleges such as University of Cambridge, Harvard University, Massachusettes Institute of Technology, Yale University, and University of Oxford.

The schools in Libya are overcrowded and standards are low. Students were just taught to learn the regime that was taught them. They were not trained to discuss and question opinions and ideas. This was brought to the attention of people by Professor Zahi Mogherbi who is a Political Science Professor. There was much wrong that was threatened. The people feared imprisonment for the truth of the changes they had to tell. In the Libyan schools they studied a Green Book about a dictator that was written in Arabic.

History books were full of propaganda. I am weak in history because I constantly told my history teacher in highschool my history book lied. It probably really did. Students were required to memorize material and not understand it. There is a revolution in Libya to rewrite text books and change curricula. They are not sure how it will happen. If only they had more hope.

Exams were so hard in the school that seventy percent of students went to technical trianing after quitting. This is what what I see so frequently in the blue collar society of America. Libya is working on changing the mentality of teachers by throwing out the People’s society and students that quit will be invited back. May this all be a lesson in education for America and what is happening with blue collar workers. We need to know the truth in education. May the truth be told.
