Quick and Easy Tips to Make Your Website SEO Efficient

Search engine optimization is an important part of writing and creating websites. Sometimes SEO techniques can be difficult to understand. Other times, they are simple to grasp. While writing only requires SEO techniques to be used while writing, creating webpages requires more than writing for good SEO techniques. Follow these tips to help your webpage have good SEO rankings.

Title Your Webpages

One of the mistakes people make is not to use the title tag in a webpage. This comes directly before the body tag and contains the title of the page between the open and closed title tags. While the general title may be wanted, it is also important to put keywords relating to the page in the title. However, make sure that no more than ten keywords related to the site are in the title tag. Search engines will index the title and give the webpage better placement.

Use Page Headings

Make sure to use headings with words on your page. Do not use graphics as the headings. Instead, use text. Use the HTML heading tags for different size text. This way search engines will index the words in the headings.

Use Alternative Text

If images must be used for the heading and when images that are related to the content are used, make sure to use alternative text for the images. This is done by typing “alt=” and following it by a description of the image in quotation marks. It goes in the image tag. This allows for search engines to recognize the text for the images. It also allows for screen readers for people who have difficulty seeing to know why certain images are on the page. A description of the image can be in the quotation marks for people who use screen readers, but it is best to keep the text related to your keywords for good search engine optimization.

Don’t Use “Click Here”

Instead of using the words “click here” for your hyperlinks, use text related to your website content. If you are asking people to read a blog post, do not put “to read this post, click here.” Instead, put something in the link like “read this blog post.” If the content is related to holiday decorating, but a link that says something like, “read this holiday decorating blog post.”
