Kobe Bryant and Others Not Returning to NBA This Season After NBA Lockout

For some, the end of the lockout was too little too late. Chris Douglas Roberts, who last played for the Milwaukee Bucks, tweeted that he wouldn’t be back this season. Instead, he will stay in Italy, where he was one of a few NBA players to actually accept a deal to play overseas while the NBA season was on hold. Dozens of players were rumored to be flirting with overseas teams who offered money – and a chance to play — during the lockout. “Sorry to all my supporters but from a financial standpoint, it’ll be foolish for me to break this contract to return to the NBA,” he tweeted. “A 66 game season. W/that said, I’m ECSTATIC that we’ve reached a deal!!! My vote is already in! I’ll be back as an unrestricted FA next year.” That announcement was apparently met with angry fan reaction.
