I sneak out behind the curtain
Five minutes until people start being seated
How quiet it is, how red, and still
I can dance without a care in the world
For here on this stage, this is MY STAGE
The lights shine bright on my face
Bright as the sun and then they say,
“It’s show time! Get ready!”
And I have butterflies in my stomach
I can’t believe it!
I’m dancing on THIS STAGE!
The stage of my DREAMS!
As the curtains raise,
The music starts,
and
There we go,
Flying, soaring, twirling, as my feet move to the music
A dance I have danced in my head so many times
I could dance it in my sleep
I never thought it would feel so….
Freeing! Alive! Joyful!
Oh no! My foot, it slipped and down we go. Whoops!
And as I look into the crowd I see the one face I so hoped would be there
And I can go on.
Keep moving like it never happened
I must keep moving
Smiling again
And before I know it
The music has faded away,
The crowd roars and
I soar!
Oh what a joy to dance the dance of a life time!
Dreams really do come TRUE!
