Immigration, Cultural Diversity and Politics

America was created by people from all over the world with different cultures and certainly with different religions and other customs and practices. Through the years, we have been taught to take the time to learn and recognize, if not promote these multiple cultures to enhance our ability to co-exist, succeed in business, live in the neighborhood with harmony and understand their mannerisms and behaviors more accurately so we can understand their existence in our society. At the same time immigration has overwhelmed our country to the point where the cultural differences and ethnic breakdowns are unlike before and are creating shifts in demographics that are at times very complex to understand. We know that in order to survive, , to co-exist and to be at peace here on earth and in the United States, we must learn to respect each other as a means to deal with the humanity that happens. Human nature tends to draw emotional and logical boundaries or invisible lines that are based on traditional customs or practices that is not always in uniform of the larger scope of our society. In order words, those who wear the name of being a citizen of the United States of America are different in cultural multiplicity but the same in being an American. Today, as it was yesteryear, we are still a melting pot of races, ethnicity, nationalities and color but when it is all said and done, we are Americans.

Since the early 60’s I have seen racial divisions and hate come between humanity and justice. I have witnessed violence where they preached non-violence and the efforts to reach that pinnacle of peace has been so difficult to achieve as there have been barriers put up by men that obstruct our very own fiber of ethical and just behaviors as we give in to the evilness of discrimination and personal wraths of dislike. Today, we have conquered some of this hate and some of this violence but we are experiencing pockets of resistance to ensure equality and justice for all.

The Constitution is being challenged almost weekly by states who legislate bills into laws that offer degrees of discrimination or mistreatment to some and favor others. This is not the basic foundation of America. America is to be shared equally by all and not divided into groups or parties with their own ideology to live against the law of the land. Whether revolutionary or evolutionary, we are changing. We are throwing away the very core of America and taking a new direction that warrants notice that we are on a roadmap to hell. For centuries we have boldly set the example for the world and implemented laws to ensure our essential long term survival of life and the pursuit of happiness within the degree of our control and accomplishments. This conservation of our cultures has in fact backfired into our own faces as it has divided the land with separate priorities, agendas and missions to set themselves apart from the mainstream and live their own way of life regardless of the laws of the land and order.

Religion has waned and weakened for many. Ethics are now a second choice to making the right choice. Corruption is rampant and dishonesty is a character now expected for the politicians to consent to and absorb the riches promised if you go along with the program. America has a cancer. It is slowly dying at the core of the fundamentals of life as we know it. Our rights are being trampled on by decisions made by men and women on the Supreme Court and the laws are changed or overridden by executive orders that impose unconstitutional conditions on mankind. Generations of men and women accept these without fighting back and silently allow the government that was once for the people, ruling the people. We are exhibiting qualities of underdeveloped nations and our cultural diversity is the basis for such change.

Some practices, whether religious or political are detrimental to our survival as a republic and free country but unless we change our ways and return back to the basic fundamentals of government for the people. President Abraham Lincoln, making a speech in Gettysburg and standing in a military cemetery said “”that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain–that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom–and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

America needs to wake up and vote with the right spirit in 2012 to put our country back on course and preserve our freedoms.
