I Hate House Cleaning

I hate cleaning – it’s quite a chore.
You just get started and there’s always more.
You polish and shine and do the dishes,
You mop the floor and feed the fishes.

You vacuum and dust and dust some more,
Then someone spills something on the floor.
What is the use, I always say.
Is this any way to spend a day?

You make the beds and do the wash,
And fold the clothes and then, by gosh,
The laundry hamper has more for you,
To wash and iron and fold them, too.

Some day I’ll have maid for me,
So I can lounge under a tree.
And sip a mai tai now and then,
The only work I’ll do is with a pen.
