How the Town Came Together

It was the first real snow the town had received in years. The town was not prepared for this much snow in such a short time. The people weren’t prepared either. Food was scarce, water pipes were frozen, and the electricity was out for everyone. If there was ever a time for a community to come together, this was that time.

Luckily, the phone lines were still working and the community called everyone in for a town meeting. They wanted to verify that everyone was okay and most everyone lived within walking distance to the the town hall. All but one family was accounted for, the Chester family did not have a phone and was unaware of the meeting.

The Chester family also lived farthest from town and everyone assumed they probably would need the most assistance. They had five children, one of which was disabled and in a wheelchair. The Nathan family volunteered to bring them bottled water, candles, and food. Mr. Nathan was also a family doctor and could check on their health as well. Everyone that could afford to donated a little something to send their way.

When they arrived, they found that the Chester family had plenty of everything. They even had enough food cooked for the entire town. The Chester’s wanted to invite the entire town to their home for a feast to welcome the wonderful snow. Apparently, they had been preparing for this type of weather for many years. The Nathan family went back to town to let the others know of the feast offering.

The community enjoyed the wonderful food and friendship while watching more snow fall. It was a much needed break from the chaos of business as usual that the town was accustomed to.
