Garden Lights Christmas Event

Step into a magical land full of flowers, spiders, waterfalls, trees, birds, a tortoise and many other amazing creatures, all constructed from more than 500,000 outdoor Christmas lights. You’ve only thought you knew what garden lighting was all about. Plan on an experience like no other when you visit the Garden d’Lights Christmas event at the Bellevue Botanical Gardens in Bellevue, Wash.

Put together by a group of volunteers working thousands of hours over the years, the garden lights display is scheduled to go on the weekend after Thanksgiving and will be open nightly from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. until Dec. 31. Plan on visiting the garden early because no tickets will be sold after 9:30 p.m. Children 12 and under do not need tickets and can enjoy the Christmas lights display for free.

Many visitors ask how they make such beautiful garden light displays. Each month from March through September, the Bellevue Botanical Gardens offers classes to teach garden Christmas lights enthusiasts how to make the delicate looking lighted flowers. As an added bonus, the flowers made during the classes will be used in the Garden d’Lights Christmas light display during the holiday season. Each class lasts for two to three hours and costs $15 per person. For more information about taking classes, call 425-451-3755.
