FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 1 TIGHT END WRAPUP

Brent Celek: 1 catch for 13 yards. So all that talk of Michael Vick getting the ball more to Celek looks to be nothing but talk. What was once looking like a budding fantasy football career is now completely off the track.

Lance Kendricks: 1 catch for 18 yards. Kendricks dropped three passes in the game as he looked nervous. With Danny Amendola out with injury, the chance is there for more catches but he is nothing but a guy to watch at this point.

Tony Gonzalez: 5 catches for 72 yards. Gonzalez still gets his week in and week out so it was silly for anyone to think he would be a liability this season due to age.

Brandon Pettigrew: 4 catches for 57 yards. Was good to see Matthew Stafford look his way which didnt happen all that often when in the lineup together last season. Pettigrew could put up top 5 digits at the position.

Kellen Winslow: 6 catches for 66 yards. Winslow is actually underrated now since he has fallen into the old news bin. He could still be a very solid tight end for your team so dont underestimate the guy.

Jermaine Gresham: 6 catches for 58 yards and 1 TD. Those of you who subscribe to the INSIDER read how I thought Gresham was a great start in Week 1 with a rookie QB. Yup.

Ben Watson: 3 catches for 45 yards and 1 TD. Like with Gresham in Cincy, Watson will be the prime beneficiary of having a young QB. Could score 8 touchdowns at least.

Heath Miller: 3 catches for 42 yards. Miller is still a guy you only use in a bye week. Nothing has changed there.

Ed Dickson: 5 catches for 59 yards and 1 TD. Pickup alert. Pickup alert. Dickson is a big time athlete working at tight end and he clearly has the skills to be a very good pass receiver. Check him out if you can.

Dallas Clark: 4 catches for 39 yards. Yeah things look a lot different without Peyton Manning as his QB. Could be a long season for Clark and his owners.

Owen Daniels: 1 catch for 12 yards. Just a no-show outing for Daniels. Lets hope things get better. It think they will.

Fred Davis: 5 catches for 105 yards. Davis was getting a lot of work for the gimpy Chris Cooley (2 catches for 21 yards). Bothy guys figure to cancel each other out so the value is not optimal.

Antonio Gates: 8 catches for 74 yards. A monster game from Gates without the scores. The Chargers will throw it more than anyone this season so if his feet cooperate, big things are in store.

Greg Olsen: 4 catches for 78 yards. Olsen looks that much better after seeing how competent Cam Newton was. The sleeper tag still applies.

Vernon Davis: 5 catches for 47 yards. Davis has a nice chemistry with Alex Smith so once again he will put up top five numbers.

Jason Witten: 6 catches for 110 yards. Witten was his usual excellent self. What a fantastic player the guy is. He and Gates are on another level from anyone else.

Dustin Keller: 5 catches for 61 yards and 1 TD. Keller once again is looking like a favorite target of Mark Sanchez. The evidence was clear in this game just how solid a combination they are.
