Dog Parks Near Perris, Ca

Living on the outskirts of Perris, Ca there are two dog parks I recommend, Riverwalk and Pat Merritt. I own an 8 month old Great Dane, Maimai, and a 5 month old Lab-Chihuahua mix (at least we think she’s that), Bella, so finding a dog park that fits the two is a challenge.

Pat Merritt

Pat Merritt is located in Rubidoux on the corner of Limonite Ave and Ave Juan Bautista. Although it is a 15 mile drive away, the main thing that I like about the park is that I can allow both my dogs to play in the large dog enclosure without worry. The large dog section has the same small dog fencing as the little dog section. I clearly cannot bring Maimai into the small dog section, so I’m stuck bringing Bella into the large dog section. The major downside with Pat Merritt is that it does not have a parking lot. You need to parallel park next to the park or in the local neighborhood. Every time I have taken my dogs to Pat Merritt the dog owners are very responsible and nice with their dogs. When Maimai was 5 months old we took her to the park. While there another dog suddenly turned aggressive. When Maimai started yelping, everyone in the park immediately stopped what they were doing to stop the aggressive dog. The owner of the dog immediately took the dog in hand and soon left.

Riverwalk

When it comes to distance the Riverwalk dog park is much closer. Located on the corner of Pierce St and Riverwalk Pkwy a major upside is that this park has a parking lot. A lot more people also seem to attend Riverwalk. Unlike Pat Merritt, Riverwalk does not have the small dog fencing in the large dog section. Whenever I do take both dogs to that dog park unless I have my fiancé with me I’m stuck going to the large dog section. Maimai gets to play around with the other dogs but I either have to hold Bella or follow her around the whole time. Luckily on a recent visit to Riverwalk there was someone else who had a similar situation as mine. When the park closed at 9, we bumped into a park maintenance worker and asked him to forward to upper management if they could consider installing small dog fencing in the large dog section. Hopefully that request will follow through.
