Castle Age Arena Season IV Haiku and Commentary

I have a love hate relationship with Castle Age, a game I play on Facebook. In some ways it’s my favorite of the Facebook games. There’s amazing team play, fun guild battles and plenty of monsters to slay. Then there’s arena. I’m used to organized guild battles with fun and friendly team players. At least to me, arena takes the idea of guild battles, strips away all the fun and sticks you with 39 strangers who may or may not be inclined towards team play. It can be a chaotic free for all with lots of accusatory shouting in the chat log. However, arena offers rewards you can’t get elsewhere in the game. Therefore, I begrudgingly participate.

Arena Season IV Haiku

Five battles a day
Polymorph, poison, confused
Please arena end!

For those that don’t play Castle Age, this Arena is a special event that lasts three weeks and consists of battles every other hour. You can participate in up to five battles per day and need to do all five to have a chance at the best rewards. Polymorph, poison and confuse are spells your opponents can cast on you. These spells reduce your effectiveness in the arena battle (and two of the three can significantly reduce your total points earned as well). Despite the frustration of spending most battles with all three of these spells cast on me, when a miracle happens and the random team I’m on works together and wins, it’s a great feeling.

Best wishes to all of those participating in Arena!
