Behind the Curtains of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ with Actor Tyler Milliron

LOS ANGELES/GLENDALE, CALIF – When actor Tyler Milliron heard about the Glendale Centre Theatre production of Fiddle on the Roof, casting was already well underway. Thanks to friend and fellow co-star Danny Michaels (‘Rabbi’), he was able to audition and land a role.

“I came in the rehearsal process a bit late,” he said. “But thankfully it worked out and I’ve got a great part.”

The multi-talented actor plays ‘Fyedka,’ a Russian soldier who has eyes on one of the daughters of central character ‘Tevye’ (Richard Malmos) and ‘Golde’ (played by Lisa Dyson). Milliron is an astounding singer, which he is able to showcase in several scenes throughout the production. But, the young man is also a talented artist and sculptor as well.

Fiddler on the Roof is one of the great works of American musical theater is based on the book by Joseph Stein. Based in a small Ukrainian village in 1905, Fiddler tells the story of ‘Tevye’ (Malmos) and his five daughters who must confront long-standing traditions in their search for suitable husbands. The musical score by Jerry Bock includes some famous songs such as “If I were a Rich Man,” “Sunrise, Sunset,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker” and others.

“Musical theater in this town isn’t the easiest thing to do,” Milliron said. “You have to really demonstrate you are willing to work hard. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to perform with these amazing actors…the whole cast and crew have been just great to work with!”

Milliron had seen Fiddler one time before, so the story was familiar to him. His musical contribution as ‘Fyedka’ grabs audiences from the first note he sings – which happens to be a long-sustained memorable opening to a number a few minutes into the show.

“It is a remarkable musical score…powerful, poignant…it’s just a great story,” he said.

While this is the first performance for Milliron at the Glendale Centre Theatre, it will surely not be his last. He is an amazing talent and one to watch in the future. This actor’s star is sure to burn bright for a long, long time.
