2011 World Series: Old-Time Baseball or Snorefest

I hear tons of people complain about how the Rangers-Cardinals slugfest will be embarrassing for the league. I admit that it won’t pull many ratings, as more Americans are concerned about whether this conflicts with the X-Factor. However, we see a team that has won the World Series a few years back in the St. Louis Cardinals take on a team with such a colorful cast of characters in Josh Hamilton and the Texas Rangers. The Rangers’ second trip to the biggest show of all leads fans to believe in the team but the experience of the Cardinals and the power of Albert Pujols leads others to go with the Cardinals.

I, as a fan of the Seattle Mariners, am rooting for the Cardinals this time around. I was kinda hoping for a rematch of the 2006 World Series between the Cardinals and Tigers but that never happened. The Rangers came in third in Offense this year, accounting for 123% more runs than the MLB average and the Cardinals were 5th in RBIs this year. Perhaps we could see 15-12 games? The Lone Star State’s team doesn’t have many star pitchers. Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter could be the ‘x-factor’ for the series.

Prediction: Cardinals in 6 games
