TV Show Review: Terra Nova and the Season Finale

Terra Nova and the Season Finale

Terra Nova; the science fiction show that showed us what it could be like if people traveled back in time to the age of the dinosaurs in order to start over. We saw a lot happen this season and many questions were brought up in regards to the things that happened. In the season finale of Terra Nova, most, if not all the questions were answered. Most of the questions that were brought up tied up the loose ends while others made more questions. These questions, hopefully, will be answered if the show is renewed for a second season.

Terra Nova’s season finale was filled with action, adventure, suspense, mystery, violence, and of course villainy. There is a group of people called The Phoenix Group who is exploiters who want to exploit and destroy the past so they can continue to keep what they have and more. Among this group are Lucas Taylor; the estranged son of Commander Taylor, who runs Terra Nova; Mera and the Sixers. The questions that were raised were in regards to Taylor and his son; who hated him immensely. We did receive some of the answers to those questions but it left more questions as well. What were the real reasons that Lucas hated his father so much? They alluded a little too it but not enough to satisfy. And what happened to Lucas after he was shot by the young woman, Skye? It seemed he just upped and disappeared when he appeared to have been killed.

And what are the Badlands? They mentioned the Badlands several times in this episode. Is it some magical place where things just appear or is there more to it? Is it like the Bermuda Triangle? I guess we will know more about this area if this show is renewed. I especially enjoyed watching the parts where Taylor and Shannon fought back. They wanted to save their home from these invaders who were intent on destroying the past. The only way they could figure out to stop the invaders from sending more troops through was to destroy the one thing that tied them to the future that they had come from. By destroying that portal; they would have no link to the time they came from and none of the technology that they were using. In a sense, they would be back in the Stone Age, having to make do with what they could find on the land. Taylor and Shannon knew and understood the risks. So they did what they had to and were able to come out the winners. There were several who did not come winners and one of them was Mera; the head of the Sixers. She has a daughter in the future, but since the portal is now closed; she has no way back to her. I have a feeling she will be after Shannon, if this show is renewed.

Terra Nova was a concept that was intriguing and fascinating. If you were to find a fracture in time and could go to any time, would you do it? Would you go through a portal to a place like the time of the Dinosaurs in order to start over? If the time that you were in was so unlivable and you basically had no choice? That was what the people of 2149 faced, especially the Shannon family. They were able to make it to that time and start over. Then you were to find out the life you wanted could be taken away because of some greedy people. I enjoyed watching this show and I am hoping it is renewed for another season. I want to find out how they are going to manage without the technology and so forth. I also want some of the questions that were raised answered and I want to find out what is so interesting about The Badlands. I hope we do get that chance to explore Terra Nova again. It was a show worth watching and more.
