“Snowing in My Heart”

Please, don’t ask: “Why aren’t you here?.”

I wouldn’t know where to start.

Christmas won’t be the same this year.

And it’s snowing in Daddy’s heart.

I can’t help you trim the tree.

Or watch you unwrap gifts.

But I pray, in time, you’ll see.

The “good times” come in shifts.

Some day you’ll grow to understand.

Some parents drift apart.

We love you more than souls can stand.

Still, it’s snowing in my heart.

From where I am, to where you are…

A greeting card rings hollow.

From here to there, it feels so far…

Let’s look forward to “tomorrow”.

Your Christmas should have been magic.

That was “our” plan from the start.

This Christmas won’t be tragic.

Not when it’s snowing in my heart.

When you wake up Christmas morn,

I won’t see you smiling.

Take my word though: You’ve been warned.

That’s me who’ll be first dialing.

No ice skating. No sledding.

No way to play my “part”.

Yes, teardrops I’ll be shedding.

But it’s snowing in my heart.
