It seems that almost everyone has a Facebook account these days, and if you’re one of them, then you can’t help but notice all these cartoon pics showing up on “everyone’s” profiles. I personally can’t recognize who my friends are anymore; it used to be as easy as looking at the profile pic of the person on my friends list, but now, I don’t know who’s messaging me anymore without having to look at the name, and even names now have begun to change as well. Call me crazy, lazy or whatever you wish, but I’m feeling like I’m in grade school again.
Now my friends will probably raze me for expressing my opinion so strongly, but come on people! Is it really necessary to use cartoons to represent yourself and your internet egos? Anyways, just another point I would like to make is whoever started this whole cartoon profile pic fad is undoubtedly wondering what else they can get the Facebook flock to do?
People get so caught up in fads now-a-days, it makes me scratch my head and wonder about the maturity level of those on the internet today. Why not Jump off an Internet bridge because everyone else is doing it? Now don’t get me wrong, I like a good cartoon pic as much as the next elementary school kid or adult struggling with a middle life crisis, but not enough to change my profile pic just because everyone else is doing it. This fad is sad.
