Rubber Stamp Cupcakes

Are you crazy about rubber stamping? Do you stamp scrapbook pages, invitations and thank-you notes, pillowcases and sheets, and more? You’re a true rubber-stamper, then. Isn’t it fun? Creating new looks on things by simply giving those objects a stamping. When you’re hooked on something like rubber stamping you’re always looking for a new project that you’ve never done. And you’ve found one – probably. Have you ever rubber-stamped food? Cupcakes in particular? Use rubber stamps you already have to stamp cupcakes for a holiday, birthday, or other special occasion.

Bake any type of cupcakes from a boxed mix or a favorite recipe. Bake, according to package or recipe instructions, and allow the cupcakes to cool completely. Frost the cupcakes as you normally would.

Do you know what fondant is? Have you used it before? Fondant is like play dough that you can eat. You can roll it, smash it, shape it, and more. Fondant is just what you need to make rubber-stamped cupcakes.

Work and roll out the fondant by following the instructions on the package. Cut circles from the fondant. The circles should be about the size of the top of a cupcake. Leave the circles out overnight to allow the fondant to harden. This is important so that you’ll be able to rubber-stamp your image on it.

Clean the chosen rubber stamp well and make sure it’s dry. Use a small paintbrush to apply food coloring to the stamp. If needed, mix food colors together to create the exact color you want. After applying the food color to the rubber stamp just use the stamp as you normally would. Stamp an image on each circle. After stamping, it might be necessary to fill in some areas with the small paintbrush. Just dip it in the food coloring and paint any blank areas.

Lay the circles with the images on the cupcakes – one per cake. With the rubber stamps and fondant you can easily create fancy cupcakes for a wedding, a birthday, a particular holiday, or just for fun. Since you love rubber stamping so much you’ll be passionate about rubber-stamping cupcakes or even cakes. For a cake, roll out enough fondant to cover the top of it, allow it to sit overnight, then stamp it and lay it on the cake. Everyone will want to know how you did it but you’ll never tell. After all, a rubber-stamper sometimes has her little secrets.
