Review of Walgreen’s Delish 5-Cheese Lasagna Dinner

A couple nights ago, I had to run up to Walgreen’s for some paper towels and milk. While I was there, I decided to look around a bit and, as I walked past their freezer section, I saw some frozen dinners from their Delish brand. This was the first time I had seen these and, since they weren’t overly expensive (about $3), I decided to pick up a couple of them, including the 5-Cheese Lasagna Dinner.

My oldest daughter had ice skating practice last night and, since we were having dinner so late as a result of that, my wife and I decided to make the Delish frozen dinners for ourselves and I had the 5-Cheese Lasagna. I’ve had plenty of other frozen dinners in the past and, to be honest with you, really wasn’t expecting too much from this one when I made it. But, I have to admit, it really did surprise me.

One of the first things I liked about this particular dinner is it wasn’t hard to make. I just had to pop it in the microwave for about 8 minutes. While this would have been too long of a cook time for me to consider this as a lunch item, it was definitely shorter than many other frozen lasagna dinners I’ve purchased, making it perfect for dinner or when I’m not in a big rush.

The second thing I noticed about this was the quantity. As I said before, I have had plenty of other frozen lasagna dinners and many of them don’t offer much in terms of substance. That wasn’t the case with this particular brand. The lasagna was more than enough for one person and, even though I didn’t have any leftover, it left me feeling full.

As far as taste goes, I have no real complaints. It was a bit spicy (something my wife mentioned too) but, compared to so many other frozen lasagna dinners, I thought it was pretty decent. I wouldn’t mistake it for something that was homemade. But, the overall quality was more than acceptable.

In fact, I would have no problem buying this particular frozen dinner again and, if you have a Walgreen’s, I recommend picking one up to try yourself.
