With all the stress and noise of our daily lives, it’s no wonder we covet those fleeting moments when we finally get to relax and enjoy the luxury services of a fine hotel or day spa. Soaking in a warm bubble bath, ordering room service, or getting a relaxing massage can all be part of that star treatment. But what about Fido and Fluffy? Don’t they deserve a little luxury treatment as well? Sure they do. Here’s a sampling of what’s available for the pampered pooch in your life.
Luxury Hotel Accommodations – D Pet Hotel of Hollywood is just one of many luxury resorts built exclusively for dogs. Their services include, but are certainly not limited to, doggie day care and overnight vacation packages. Their Uber Suites for overnight stays measure 12 feet by 22 feet, and feature queen-sized beds and 42-inch flat screen TVs. If your schedule just won’t allow you to drop Fluffy off for her weekend retreat, you can arrange to have her picked by a personal chauffeur in a Ferrari 458, Lamborghini Gallardo, Bentley, Porsche or Rolls Royce. Interestingly enough, the D Pets Hotel website does not mention price. I’m guessing that if you have to ask, you can’t afford it!
Day Spas – The Barkley Pet Hotel and Day Spa is a 32,000-square foot pet care campus that includes, among other things, a grooming salon, spa and pet boutique shopping center with stores such as Pucci, Neiman Barcus, Sniffany & Co. and Kate Spayed. Your pooch can enjoy in-suite dining, get a pawdicure, or have a relaxing massage in the privacy of her own room. The spa’s Celebrity Special includes teeth brushing, pawdicure, mud mask, and facial & head massage all for just $45. And similar to D Pet Hotel mentioned earlier, The Barkley offers limousine service for delivery and pick up for an additional, undisclosed fee. Barkley Pet Hotel and Day Spas are currently located in Cleveland, Ohio and Westlake Village, California, in the Los Angeles area.
Fitness Centers – The Canine Fitness Center has facilities in both Baltimore and Annapolis. They cater to the pudgy pooch that needs to shed a few extra pounds, as well as those recovering from surgery or injury. The center offers a variety of customized canine aquatic activities specific to the problem areas that need to be addressed. They also offer acupuncture, underwater treadmill exercising and therapeutic massage, which they explain can minimize your dog’s anxiety and depression.
The next time you’re planning that romantic getaway for you and the spouse, don’t forget Fido. He deserves some relaxing time away as well. Whether you hire him the Ferrari or the Rolls is up to you, but I’m sure he’ll love the 42-inch flat screen TV!
