Ideas for Decorating a Blue, Cream and Black Office Space

Some color combinations are absolutely gorgeous, and when neutral hues are paired with an accent color, the results are nothing short of extraordinary. Blue, cream and black are a beautiful color trio. It is a choice that I recently used when decorating a home office. It included three shades of sky blue. Imagine a room in all neutrals that is suddenly splashed with a few shades of a single color. This decorating technique makes a dramatic statement, and a home office is the ideal stage.

Start with Creamy Beige Wall Paint

When decorating a blue, cream and black office space, begin with creamy beige paint. Neutral hues will cover 90% of the office space, but they will not become the focus of the room. Creamy beige will be used as a backdrop for furnishings and eye catching wall art. If the office is small, the lighter color will not make it visually smaller. It is an excellent color choice.

Buy Cream Colored Executive Furnishings

A desk, filing cabinet and free standing shelf unit is a major part of a home office decorating scheme. Function and style must be combined. Consider cream colored furnishings with executive style. The desk should offer plenty of storage space, and it should coordinate with the filing cabinet and freestanding shelf. Instead of using a typical desk chair, opt for an upholstered chair. It will look far better than office seating.

Decorate with Wrought Iron Wire Bottles

Decorating a cream, black and blue office space should include nonfunctional decor in addition to baskets for paperwork, file boxes, desk lighting and typical office supplies. When decorating a home office using neutral and blue, I chose two decorative bottles crafted from light brown wire. They were a unique and eye catching addition to the decorating scheme, and they were completely unexpected.

Hang a Pair of Paintings in Blue, Cream and Black

I had not yet added blue to the neutral decorating scheme of the office space. I saved the best for last. With my client’s approval, I purchased two works of framed wall art. They depicted branches in black with backgrounds of blue and cream colored circles in various shades. The circles looked like drops of rainwater that were illuminated by the sun. The colors and designs were gorgeous. The narrow wooden frames were black, and they trimmed the artwork beautifully.

Add a Final Splash of Sky Blue with a Woven Throw

I added a final splash of blue to the cream and black decorating scheme of the office. I purchased a beautiful woven throw. It was a lightweight fringed throw in a delicate shade of sky blue. It perfectly matched some of the blue circles in the artwork. The blue in the artwork and the throw added just the right amount of color to the office. Because the other hues were neutral, the blue made the office space pop with unique vibrancy.
