When I was going to school, we were taught that a Haiku had a twist at the end of the poem. When a haiku is written this way, the reader may find it funny and they get a surprise.
Here is an example of the type of haiku that I am talking about.
It’s that time of year!
Christmas, white flakes falling down.
The soap fell over.
Notice that the lines are still in the same syllable amount that is recommended.
