Homemade Halloween Decorations You Can Easily Create

There are a few reasons why creating homemade Halloween decorations can come in handy. Creating your own decorations is a fun way to celebrate the Halloween season. Homemade Halloween Decoration #1: Pine Cone Pumpkins.

The first decoration you are going to learn how to create is a pumpkin made out of a pine cone and paint. It may take a little time since you have to let the paint completely dry, but it will still be an easy craft to work on.

Materials:

Pine Cones (real or artificial).
Orange Paint.
Black Paint.
Green paint.
Paint Brushes.
String or Yarn.
Scissors (for cutting the string or yarn).
Old Newspaper.

Directions:

1. Gather together a few pine cones. You can use real pine cones or pine cones bought in craft stores. This all depends on your preference.

2. Spread out some old newspaper in your work area. This will catch any drips or messes.

3. Paint the pine cones orange and let it dry completely. You can use just one coat of paint or two.

4. Once the orange paint has completely dried, use the black paint to paint on the pumpkin’s face. Let the paint completely dry.

A Paper Towel Ghost is actually very easy to create. It will only take a few materials and steps to complete.

Materials:

Roll of Paper Towels.
Large White Cotton Balls.
Black Markers.
White Yarn, String, or Rubber Bands.
Scissors (for cutting the yarn or string).

Directions:

1. Lay a full piece of the paper towel down flat and place one white cotton ball in the center.

2. Drape the paper towel up over the white cotton ball. The cotton ball will act as the head of the ghost and the paper towel will act as the body.

3. Tie a piece of yarn or string to the paper towel closed. When you tie it closed, make sure it is as close to the cotton ball as possible. You can also use a white rubber band in the place of the string or yarn.

4. Use the black marker to carefully draw a face on the head of the ghost.

5. Tie the string or yarn around each ghost to hang it up from a high place. If you do not want to hang it up, you can decorate by setting the ghost on the table or shelf.

Repeat steps one through five for any additional paper towel ghosts you are going to be working on.

Homemade Halloween Decoration #3: Pine Cone Bats.

This is another craft that will use pine cones to create a homemade Halloween decoration. It does take a few more materials, but it will not be hard to complete.

Materials:

Pine Cones.
Black or Dark Purple Paint.
Paint Brushes.
Construction Paper (black or dark purple; should match the paint you are using).
White Gel Pen or Silver Sharpie Marker.
Old Newspaper.
String or Yarn.
Scissors (for cutting the string or yarn).
Glue.

Directions:

1. Gather together a few pine cones. You can use real pine cones or pine cones bought in craft stores. This all depends on your preference.

2. Spread out some old newspaper in your work area. This will catch any drips or messes.

3. Paint the pine cone black or dark purple and let it dry completely. You can use just one coat of paint or two. Give the paint some time to complete dry. The pine cone will act as the body of the bat.

6. If the paint is completely dry, you can go ahead and continue on with the project. Glue the head, wings, and feet to the pine cone. Use enough glue for it to hold, but do not soak it in glue. When you are done, allow the glue to completely dry.

7. Tie the string or yarn around the bat to hang it up from a high place. If you do not want to hang it up, you can decorate by setting the bat on the table or shelf.

Repeat steps three through seven for any additional pine cone bats you are going to work on.
